The financial turmoil that originated in the US subprime market quickly went global. The linkages between emerging market economies and advanced economies have thus become a major topic of debate. Some argue that emerging economies have thus far been relatively unscathed by the mature markets’ turbulence, in part because they were not as heavily involved in structured financial products.
