Vox is five years old this month
Richard Baldwin, 28 June 2012
Since its launch in June 2007, VoxEU.org has been propelled forwards by world-class economists writing research-based policy analysis and commentary on the world’s most pressing topics. This supply has been fortuitously met with a surging demand for more sophisticated analysis. Readership has tripled since Vox’s first birthday; now we regularly get over three million page views per month. As it turns out, economists around the world were looking for something more than what is usually found on blogs and newspapers.
Vox is five years old this month. Here is an extract from the inaugural column:
“What is VoxEU.org?
Vox aims to enrich the economic policy debate in Europe and beyond. On the supply side, Vox makes it easier for serious researchers to contribute. On the demand side, Vox makes the knowledge of researchers more accessible to the public.

The Editors, 23 February 2009
Vox’s first compilation of columns on the crisis – what was called the Subprime crisis back then – was not the end of the story. Far from it. Since the publication of that volume in June 2008, the global crisis has both deepened and widened. Today, the editors are pleased to launch publication of the second volume of collected Vox columns edited again by Andrew Felton and Carmen Reinhart.
