Billy Jack is an Associate Professor of Economics at Georgetown University, and has held positions at Sydney University, the Australian National University, the US Congress, and the IMF. His current research focuses on evaluating innovations in developing countries across a wide variety of contexts. These include, for example, road safety campaigns and cell phone banking in Kenya, health worker incentives and behavior in Ghana and Ethiopia, and innovations in rural credit markets and rain water harvesting, also in Kenya. His other research has covered areas of microeconomic theory as well as health policy and public finance in the US. He is author of Principles of Health Economics for Developing Countries, and is editor of the Global Health section of Elsevier's Encyclopedia of Health Economics. He holds a degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Western Australia, and an MPhil and DPhil from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
