Mary E. Lovely
Syracuse University
Mary E. Lovely is Associate Professor of Economics at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, where she combines interests in international economics and public economics. Her current research projects examine the effect of foreign investment and production fragmentation on the pollution intensity of China’s trade. Other work investigates the extent to which the availability of new technology influences the adoption of environmental regulations by developing countries. She has recently completed work on the determinants of foreign direct investment flows to Chinese provinces and their relation to provincial differences in environmental policy and labor conditions. Dr. Lovely earned her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She holds a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Harvard University. She has taught at Syracuse University since 1988.
