Christian Merkl is professor of macroeconomics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, research professor at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and Research Fellow of IZA. From 2007 to 2010 he was assistant professor at the Christian Albrechts University, Kiel, and head of the research group Monetary Policy at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. He obtained his PhD from Kiel University in 2007.
