Betty C. Daniel

Betty C. Daniel is Professor of Economics at the University at Albany – State University of New York, where she has been since joining the faculty in 1983. Before coming to Albany, she held the position of Assistant Professor at Tulane University. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed traveling to accept Visiting Professor positions at Williams College, The University of California – Santa Cruz, Dartmouth College, The University of Pennsylvania, and The University of New South Wales. She was a Visiting Fellow at The Australian National University and at Osaka University. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and at the International Monetary Fund. She served as Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in 1976-78 and more recently in 2008-09. She received her PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is the author of numerous scholarly articles, in which her research interests include international economics, macroeconomics, monetary theory, and, most recently, financial crises.
